Tell us the pallet, the forklift and the ceiling height and we will lay the building out. The onsite visit is free, and it happens before anyone quotes you steel.
Racking for Oxnard warehouses
Oxnard racking is cold chain racking more often than not. Strawberries are the top crop in Ventura County, ahead of nursery stock, lemons and celery, and refrigerated fruit comes off the port next door into cold buildings on the Oxnard plain. Many pallet positions here sit in a cooler, a freezer, or a bay that runs cold half the day.
Date coding decides the rack. Produce moves first in, first out, so we lean on pallet flow, push back and drive-through rather than drive-in, which loads and picks from the same face and buries the oldest pallet at the back. Pallet flow also keeps the truck out of the rack, loading one end and picking the other, which matters when the aisle sits at freezer temperature. In a cooler we specify galvanized or coated steel, because condensation and washdown find bare paint at the foot of an upright within a season.
Beam elevations get set to the pallet the packer actually builds. A tray-stacked berry pallet and a banana box pallet are different heights, and guessing costs a level. Wet produce is heavy, so we size beams and uprights to a loaded pallet rather than a nominal one, and leave aisles wide enough for a truck handled in cold gear. Cold slabs are often insulated, so we confirm the slab section before anchors are set.
The city has to approve the building work and the fire department has to approve the storage, and both submissions are ours to prepare.
Systems we install in Oxnard
Selective pallet rack
Every pallet reachable from the aisle. The default where the SKU count is high and the pallet count per SKU is low.
Drive-in rack
Forklift drives into the lane. Highest density per square foot, LIFO rotation, one SKU per lane.
Push-back rack
Two to six pallets deep on nested carts. Density without giving up a lane per SKU.
Cantilever rack
Arms instead of beams, for pipe, lumber, tubing and anything that will not sit on a pallet.
Mezzanines
A second level built inside the building. Adds floor area for storage, picking or work space without moving.
Bulk storage and shelving
Hand-stacked cartons on boltless shelving, with wire decks or particleboard.
We also supply wire decks, conveyors, pallet jacks and more.
Rack inspections in Oxnard
Forklift impact bends uprights, and a bent upright loses capacity long before it looks dangerous. We inspect racking against the manufacturer’s configuration, classify what we find by severity, and give you a written report.
