Racking for Ontario warehouses

Ontario sits where the I-10 meets the I-15, with the Inland Empire distribution market spread around that junction, Ontario International Airport inside the city limits and its freight tonnage climbing. The buildings around it are big-box distribution: retail replenishment, e-commerce fulfillment, air freight and mail handling, third-party logistics and more.

These are tall buildings sprinklered for storage, which means the ceiling system sets the height, not the roof. We design top-of-storage to the clearance the sprinkler deflectors need above the load, and keep the transverse and longitudinal flues open, because a flue blocked by a pallet overhang undoes that design without anyone noticing. Velocity does the rest. A fast floor picks eaches at ground level, so the lowest bays become case flow lanes or decked shelf levels inside the same uprights, with reserve pallets above replenishing down. Everything stays bolted and adjustable, because these floors re-slot several times a year and a welded frame cannot be re-pitched.

Reserve is the one place we go deeper. A SKU that genuinely turns in pallet quantities can sit two or three deep on push back, kept off the pick line so a slot change does not strand it behind something slower. We size uprights for the whole column of load rather than the top beam pair, since an aisle of full reserve is a different capacity question from a bay of mixed cases.

A rack this tall needs the city’s approval and the fire department’s, and we prepare and file for both.

Systems we install in Ontario

Selective pallet rack

Every pallet reachable from the aisle. The default where the SKU count is high and the pallet count per SKU is low.

Drive-in rack

Forklift drives into the lane. Highest density per square foot, LIFO rotation, one SKU per lane.

Push-back rack

Two to six pallets deep on nested carts. Density without giving up a lane per SKU.

Cantilever rack

Arms instead of beams, for pipe, lumber, tubing and anything that will not sit on a pallet.

Mezzanines

A second level built inside the building. Adds floor area for storage, picking or work space without moving.

Bulk storage and shelving

Hand-stacked cartons on boltless shelving, with wire decks or particleboard.

We also supply wire decks, conveyors, pallet jacks and more.

Rack inspections in Ontario

Forklift impact bends uprights, and a bent upright loses capacity long before it looks dangerous. We inspect racking against the manufacturer’s configuration, classify what we find by severity, and give you a written report.
